Five useful material directions, each with a different priority.

These profiles are general guidance. The material named on an individual product listing and the instructions supplied with that product take priority.

Clean indoor finish

Pure PLA (standard PLA)

A crisp, rigid material suited to detailed indoor pieces, organizers, stands, decor, signage, gifts, and light everyday use.

Decorative sheen

Silk PLA

A glossy, light-reflective PLA formulation selected primarily for visual impact, premium-looking decor, gifts, signs, display pieces, and sculptural details.

Tougher utility

PETG

A durable material often chosen when a product needs more toughness, moisture tolerance, or functional resilience than standard PLA.

Scratching, sustained load, strong sun, and unapproved heat

Flexible contact

TPU

A flexible material used when a piece needs bend, grip, cushion, soft contact, vibration control, or limited elastic movement.

Soft-textured and naturally flexible
Best fit
Grips, feet, bumpers, sleeves, and flexible features
Watch for
Sharp objects, overstretching, oils, and unsupported loads

Durable engineering direction

ABS

A rigid, impact-aware material that can offer better heat tolerance than PLA and may suit selected functional, workshop, enclosure, or utility applications after product-specific review.

Compare the general character of each material.

Relative labels are intentionally qualitative because formulations, colors, geometry, and production settings vary.

“Higher” does not mean flame-safe, oven-safe, dishwasher-safe, vehicle-safe, or suitable for continuous high-temperature service.

Simple handling protects both the finish and the geometry.

Use the product listing first when it includes more specific cleaning, placement, or environmental instructions.

Clean gently

Use a dry microfiber cloth or a soft cloth lightly dampened with mild soap and water. Wipe rather than soak.

Avoid dishwashers, abrasive pads, harsh solvents, and prolonged submersion unless the listing explicitly permits them.

Control heat

Keep products away from ovens, open flame, heaters, hot cookware, high-output lamps, and other concentrated heat sources.

Do not leave a product in a hot vehicle or assume a material name guarantees a safe operating temperature.

Limit sun and weather

Long-term ultraviolet exposure, standing water, freezing cycles, and outdoor temperature changes may alter color, finish, or shape.

Outdoor suitability must be stated on the product listing or confirmed for a custom project.

Respect the intended load

Avoid dropping, twisting, crushing, overloading, or using decorative pieces as structural or safety-critical components.

Silk PLA and fine-detail products should receive especially careful handling around thin features and edges.

Layered production creates details that are normal—not defects.

Fused-filament 3D printing builds an object one layer at a time. A finished product may show subtle layer lines, a seam, small support-contact marks, minor texture differences, slight color variation, or a small change in sheen across surfaces.

These characteristics can vary with geometry, orientation, material, color, and lighting while remaining consistent with a correctly produced 3D printed item.

Match the dominant requirement first.

One project may need a compromise between appearance, flexibility, toughness, detail, and environmental exposure.

Appearance first

Silk PLA emphasizes shine and visual depth. Pure PLA supports clean detail and a more restrained finish.

Indoor utility first

Pure PLA works well for many organizers, stands, decor pieces, and light-duty household products.

Toughness first

PETG or ABS may be considered when a product needs more functional resilience or a warmer-use direction.

Flexibility first

TPU is the starting point for grip, bend, cushioning, bump protection, and soft-contact features.

A material name does not create a certification.

Unless a product listing explicitly states otherwise, NAMVEXO products are not certified for medical, protective, direct food-contact, electrical, structural, child-safety, vehicle-safety, flame-resistant, pressure-bearing, or other high-risk uses.

Confirm special-use requirements before ordering.

Custom requests involving heat, chemicals, outdoor exposure, load, food contact, skin contact, children, pets, electronics, vehicles, or safety-related use require a separate feasibility review.
